RACINE.ORG Cycling Classic
The Point Premium Root Beer International Cycling Classic brings the Racine.org Cycling Classic in Downtown Racine, Thursday, July 23. The cycling race, with a purse totaling $2,800, features some of the world’s best athletes who competes on a 62 mile circuit around Downtown Racine.
“This was a great event for Racine,” said Dave Blank, CEO/President of the Racine County Convention and Visitors Bureau (RCCVB). “It was a family-fun event that had something for everyone, and am looking forward to this year's event.”
The Racine.org Cycling Classic begins at 10:45 a.m. and features five races attracting some of the best cyclists around. The Main Race, the SuperWeek Professional 100K Race, begins at 5:45 p.m. and features the top competitors of the day. Spectators are able to view the course as cyclists loop around Main, College, Water, Wisconsin and State streets at speeds reaching 40 miles per hour.
There are also children’s races for those aged 9 and under, giving the youngsters the opportunity to compete just like their parents on their bicycles, tricycles and big wheels.
“The family oriented event was a great addition to the summer events in Downtown Racine,” added Blank. “Fans are able to watch the races all afternoon and then could stay in the area to enjoy the downtown restaurants and shops."
